A devoted equestrian died after she was trampled by one of her horses in a tragic accident, an inquest heard.

Margaret Davies, 80, was leading her thoroughbred horse, Benny, to its paddock when it became spooked.

The bay-coloured Connemara lurched sideways, knocking Mrs Davies to the ground before accidentally standing on her.

She was admitted to hospital with traumatic chest injuries before developing pneumonia and dying just over two weeks later.

The inquest was told that Mrs Davies devoted her entire adult life to equestrianism, competing, breeding and training horses to a high level.
