Sir Keir Starmer is facing a fresh backlash within Labour's ranks after the Government ruled that Israel has not committed genocide in Gaza.

The Government said it had not concluded Israel is acting with the 'intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group'.

It comes ahead of a controversial visit to the UK this week by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, which is expected to include a meeting with the Prime Minister.

Some Labour MPs have warned the Government should not be 'rolling out the red carpet' for Israel's head of state due to its actions in Gaza.

Cabinet minister Wes Streeting this morning said Mr Herzog needs to answer for alleged war crimes committed by his country when he visits Britain.
