Sir Keir Starmer has insisted he will press ahead with Angela Rayner’s controversial workers’ rights law.
After paying tribute to Ms Rayner following her resignation, Sir Keir told a meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party on Monday night: ‘All these commitments continue under this Labour Government.
'The Employment Rights Bill will continue with the same substance and timetable as before.’
Business leaders and the Tories had renewed their calls for the bill Ms Rayner had championed to be toned down, or even ditched, after she was forced to quit as Deputy Prime Minister.
They fear the bill, which will cost businesses up to £5billion a year, will further damage economic growth and make strikes more likely.
