Sept. 8 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced it will implement "Operation Midway Blitz" to target "the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Chicago."

A press release by the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement said the operation is in honor of Katie Abraham, 19, who was killed in a hit-and-run car accident in Urbana, Ill., in January. Chloe Polzin, 20, also was killed in the crash.

Julio Cucul Bol, 29, a citizen of Guatemala, is accused of being the drunken driver. He was arrested near Dallas. At the time, he allegedly had fake Mexican papers.

"This operation will target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Chicago," said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement. "For years, Governor [JB] Pritzker and his fellow sanctuary politicians released Tren de Aragua gang members, rapists, kidnappers, and drug traffickers on Chicago's streets -- putting American lives at risk and making Chicago a magnet for criminals. President [Donald] Trump and Secretary [of Homeland Security Kristi] Noem have a clear message: no city is a safe haven for criminal illegal aliens. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, deport you, and you will never return."
