The next door neighbour of a grandfather who died in a huge house explosion smelt gas in the weeks leading up to the tragedy, an inquest has heard.

Brian Davies, 68, was killed on March 13 2023 when a blast ripped apart his home in Morriston, Swansea, sending debris across the road and nearby streets.

Mr Davies, who has been described as pleasant and chatty, was trapped in the house when it was obliterated, locals previously said.

Claire Bennett, who lived next door to loved grandfather-of-three, was injured in the fireball and had to be rescued from her property.

She told an inquest in Swansea she had been smelling gas at the rear of her property for the previous few weeks, which she attributed to maintenance work being carried out at a nearby house.
