One of Italy's most experienced skydivers has died following a 1,500m plunge despite both of his parachutes opening up.

Sandro Bigozzi, 49, tragically died on Saturday after taking off from an airstrip in Montecompatri, a town just outside Rome.

With more than 50,000 followers on Instagram and nearly 6,000 dives under his belt, Bigozzi was well-known and respected amongst skydivers.

He shared a clip of a dive he carried out just two hours before his fatal tragedy.

Investigators, who have already seized equipment used and spoken to several witnesses, believe Bigozzi's parachutes were delayed in their deployment, which wouldn't have given the thrillseeker enough time to slow down.
