Two persons who decamped with cash and gold from a house at Moolapalayam in Erode on August 30 were arrested by the police on Sunday.
Anand (50), a businessman, had kept ₹40 lakh in cash along with valuables in his residence. Between August 29 and 30, Mohankumar (50) and his wife Valliyammal (42), who were staying nearby, allegedly burgled the house. Anand discovered the theft on September 2 and lodged a complaint with the Erode Taluk Police on September 6.
CCTV footage showed the suspects removing the cash and valuables from the residence. Upon questioning, the accused admitted to the crime. The police recovered ₹22.5 lakh in cash and 13 sovereigns of gold.
The two were remanded to judicial custody.
