Vice President JD Vance brushed off potential Democratic 2028 presidential contenders during a softball Fox News interview with Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, and earned a withering clapback from one of the potential candidates in the process.
“I don’t think much of the modern Democratic Party. Obviously I’m biased but I just, I look at these guys and some of them are actually trying to mimic President Trump. You can’t mimic his style, he just is who he is,” Vance said.
Vance didn’t name names.
But California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) press office — which has been leaning into Trump-style trolling of the president and Republicans in recent weeks — fired back on X, formerly Twitter.
“COUCH BOY,” the account posted, referencing the debunked rumor that Vance once had sex with a couch.
