IPS officer Anjana Krishna V.S., who recently came into the spotlight for her bold actions in an anti-mining operation that sparked a controversy involving Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, hails from Malayinkeezhu in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Born on April 17, 1990, the 2022-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, who is presently Sub-Division Police Officer, Karmala in Solapur district of Maharashtra, grew up in a modest household.

Her father, V.S. Viju, runs a cloth business, while her mother, L. Seena, works as an Upper Division typist at the Vanchiyoor District Court in Thiruvananthapuram.

She completed her schooling at St Mary’s Central School at Poojappura, and later pursued a BSC degree in Mathematics from NSS College for Women at Neeramankara.
