WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump told reporters that European leaders would be visiting the White House on Sept. 8 or Sept. 9, as he repeated expectations that he will talk "soon" with Russian President Vladimir Putin, aiming to end the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s optimism extended to Gaza, where he said he expects a cease-fire and a deal for hostages "very soon."
And despite South Korea’s concern about the arrest of hundreds of workers at a Georgia factory, which is under construction, Trump said the country welcomes foreign investment so long as workers are brought in legally.
Here’s what to know about Trump’s comments Sept. 7 after returning from watching the U.S. Open men’s final in New York:
Trump said individual European leaders that he didn’t name would visit to discuss how to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump added that he wasn’t happy after a massive Russian air assault on the main government building in Kyiv.
