One spot will open in the top 10 of this week's US LBM Coaches Poll after Arizona State lost 24-20 at Mississippi State.
Previously No. 10, the Sun Devils are going to slide way down the Top 25. The Bulldogs are almost universally seen as the worst team in the SEC; the result in Starkville is very bad news for the reputations of the Big 12 and Arizona State.
Bad news in Tempe is good news for South Carolina, which is one of a few teams in contention to join at No. 10 after remaining unbeaten against South Carolina State. One team that won't make the leap is Michigan, which lost 24-13 at Oklahoma.
Otherwise, the top 10 should see some shuffling between Notre Dame and Clemson after the Tigers' second uninspiring performance in a row to open the season. Here's our projection for the top of this week's Coaches Poll:
After beating Grambling 70-0, Ohio State takes on a fiesty Ohio team capable of hanging around for a few minutes longer than expected and frustrating the Buckeyes. The game in the near future that bears watching is the road trip to Washington to end September.
