Russia bombed Ukraine’s main government building for the first time in the largest overnight aerial attacks since the war began, Ukraine has said.

The Ukrainian air force said some 805 drones and 13 missiles were fired overnight, primarily targeting western regions of the country – far from the battlefield’s front line in the east and south of the country.

Three people were killed including a 32-year-old woman and her two-month-old son who were pulled from the rubble of their home in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv.

Earlier, Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, said an elderly woman had died in a bomb shelter in the southeastern district of Darnytskyi. A pregnant woman was among those injured.

The attack also set the main building of the Ukrainian government in Kyiv on fire during the strikes.
