A day after an anonymous person threatened to blow up Mumbai with human bombs, using over 400 kgs of RDX, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested 50-year-old Ashwinikumar Sureshkumar Supra from Noida in Uttar Pradesh. He will be produced in a court in Mumbai on Saturday (September 6, 2025). Prima facie, it seems like a bunch of hoax messages sent with the intent of creating nuisance or mischief, police officials told The Hindu. Further investigation in the matter is going on.
“We take each threat seriously. During Ganesh Chaturthi festival, there is added alertness. The accused had sent messages from different numbers. We traced him to Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Our teams arrested him with the help of Gautam Buddha Nagar Police. We have already seized the phones which were used for the crime,” a senior police officer told The Hindu.
