The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has recorded nearly 20% jump in property tax revenue this year compared to the corresponding period in 2024. A civic official said that by August this year, the corporation had collected ₹2,024.75 crore, up from ₹1,687.57 crore last year.
Delhi Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh attributed the surge to the Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025-26, also known as the ‘Sampattikar Niptaan Yojana’ (SUNIYO). “Till August, the Assessment and Collection Department has collected over ₹2,024 crore, which is nearly 20% higher than last year. The number of property taxpayers has also grown from 9.69 lakh to 11.37 lakh, an 18% increase,” Mr. Singh said.
