The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), which hiked water tariff and sanitary charges across the board in the city in April, 2025, has again revised the tariff for bulk users (apartments) and sanitary charges for Paying Guest (PG) accommodations on September 1, 2025, which will effectively reduce the hike from the levels in April.
Following the April’s water tariff hike, several apartment owners and Bangalore Apartment Federation (BAF) pointed out that the water tariff was based on the consumption only without taking into consideration the number of flats. Arguing that “water consumption in case of lesser flats will be lower when compared to those apartments with higher number of flats,” the BAF had appealed to revise the tariff based on the number of flats and by considering the minimum water consumption per flat, which the BWSSB has done.
