An accountant who was sacked for shopping online for 45-minutes a day has won thousands in damages, as an employment judge rules it as not 'excessive'.

Anna Lanuszka, 34, was dismissed from MK Accountancy at the end of July 2023, after spyware software installed into her work computer by her boss found she was browsing sites such as Rightmove, Amazon and Very.

Ms Lanuszka was occasionally hired by her sister at the firm which was ran by Agnieszka Krauze, in October 2017.

And in July 2023, shortly before she was due to move from Poland to the UK on a permanent basis, the Polish managing director installed spyware software on to Ms Lanuszka laptop.

Analysis of her computer usage showed on July 13 and 14 of 2023, one hour and 254 minutes was spent on 'personal matters' and one hour and nine minutes was used for work affairs.
