A man fatally knifed his 18-year-old sister in a mass stabbing at a tribal headquarters in Canada and was killed in a car crash with police as he tried to flee.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said that Tyrone Simard, 26, injured six others in the stabbing rampage at the Hollow Water First Nation in Manitoba early Thursday morning.

After stabbing several people, Simard attempted to flee in a stolen car but was killed after colliding with a police officer responding to the scene.

RCMP explained that they were called to the native community in the early-morning hours Thursday over multiple assault reports.

'Upon arrival, officers unfortunately located a number of people suffering from serious injuries sustained from stab wounds,' Supt. Rob Lasson said.
