Patients of NHS surgeon Neil Hopper - who deliberately froze his legs on order to amputate them - are now concerned they may have undergone life-changing surgery necessarily.

Hopper, 49, has been jailed for 32 months after pleading guilty to five charges, during his appearance before Truro Crown Court on Thursday afternoon.

He admitted two charges of fraud by false representation relating to claims made to insurance companies and a further three charges of possessing extreme pornographic images, relating to videos by a website called the EunuchMaker, which depicted genital mutilation.

The disgraced vascular surgeon from Truro accepted tricking insurance companies out of £466,653.81 by falsely claiming his leg injuries - resulting in amputation in 2019 - were not self-inflicted.

The court heard Hopper had used dry ice to freeze his legs to the extent they were no longer viable, requiring amputation – which had long been an ambition of his and he had a sexual interest in.
