If Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expected his appearance on Thursday before the Senate Finance Committee would ease the fears of Americans worried about his handling of the Department of Health and Human Services, he was sadly mistaken.
In fact, the words that best describe the hearing are probably “bonkers” and “wackadoodle.”
RFK Jr. was repeatedly caught in “gotcha” moments, like when Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), a physician, got him to agree that President Donald Trump deserved a Nobel prize for his Operation Warp Speed vaccine initiative despite cancelling $500 million in mRNA vaccine contracts.
Kennedy also raised eyebrows after claiming that he fired Susan Monarez a month after she became CDC director because she answered “no” when he allegedly asked her, “Are you a trustworthy person?”
But if social media snark is your jam, RFK Jr.’s hearing provided an embarrassment of riches, emphasis on the embarrassment.
