President Donald Trump is doubling down on his feud with comedian Rosie O'Donnell.
In a post to Truth Social Sept. 3, the president said that his administration was considering revoking O'Donnell's citizenship. The legal basis of Trump's claim, however, is dubious, given that O'Donnell was born in New York, which grants birthright citizenship.
"As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell's Citizenship," the president wrote alongside a seemingly distorted image of the comedian's face. "She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!"
Rosie O'Donnell: Leaving US for second Trump presidency was 'safest and best thing'
This is not the first time Trump has dangled the idea of revoking O'Donnell's citizenship. In a July 12 post to Truth Social, Trump wrote: "because of the fact that Rosie O'Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship."
