Property mogul Nick Candy gave £500,000 to Reform UK between April and June this year, official figures have shown.

The half-a-million pound sum was among a total of £1.34million in donations raked in by Nigel Farage's party during the second quarter of this year.

But this was much less than the sums raised by both the Tories and Labour over the same period, despite Reform having surged into the lead in a number of opinion polls.

The Conservatives secured £2.92million in donations between April and June, while Labour accepted £2.6million.

Mr Candy, a former Tory donor, joined Reform as the party's treasurer in December last year and vowed to raise the funds needed for Mr Farage to become PM.
