Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Amanda Anisimova avenged her Wimbledon finale loss and upset Iga Swiatek for what she called her "most meaningful" win to reach her first U.S. Open semifinal.

The American, who lost 6-0, 6-0 to Swiatek in London, needed just 96 minutes to also secure her own straight sets win over the Polish tennis star Wednesday in Flushing, N.Y.

"Playing here is so freaking special," Anisimova said on the ESPN broadcast. "I've been having the run of my life here. The first day I got here I was saying let's get through one round. This has been such a dream. To come back from Wimbledon like that is really special to me. I worked so hard to try and turn around from that. Today proved everything to me.

"I can do it."
