The carcass of a giant sea creature has mysteriously washed up on a popular beach, leaving locals and holidaymakers stunned.

The enormous corpse, believed to be a whale, was discovered on Wednesday morning lying on the sands of Cefn Sidan Beach in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire.

One shocked beachgoer who came across the animal said she was left reeling at the sheer size of the body, which had apparently been brought in by the tide overnight.

The grim discovery quickly drew a crowd, with visitors and locals gathering along the shoreline to catch a glimpse of the unusual sight.

Marine specialists are now expected to carry out an examination in a bid to determine what caused the sea creature's death.
