An Oklahoma grandmother is the latest family member to be charged with neglect in the case of her 11-year-old granddaughter. Prosecutors say she knew the girl had given birth to her stepfather's baby and she failed to go to authorities with the information.
The 53-year-old woman has been charged with six felony counts of child neglect. She was still in custody on Wednesday, Sept. 3, and her bond was set at $75,000, the Muskogee County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to USA TODAY.
Also in custody are the child’s 34-year-old stepfather and 33-year-old mother. Both are being held without bond, according to the Muskogee County District Attorney’s Office.
The child’s stepfather was previously charged with one felony count of child sexual abuse and six counts of felony child neglect. Authorities say the stepfather sexually abused the girl, leading to her pregnancy, according to court documents.
