Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Roger Goodell thinks Taylor Swift would be an excellent choice for headline performer during the Super Bowl LX halftime show, the NFL commissioner said Wednesday.

Goodell made the comment on NBC's Today show. Super Bowl LX will be held Feb. 8, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Headline artists for big game are typically announced in late September.

The record-breaking singer-songwriter, who recently became engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, is to release her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3. She had never appeared on a Super Bowl halftime show.

"We would always love to have Taylor play," Goodell said, when asked if Swift was being considered for the role. "She is a special, special talent and, obviously, she would be welcome at any time."

Goodell said he could not say anything about it when asked if planning for the performance was "in the works." Host Savannah Guthrie then asked if such a performance was a "maybe."
