Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Job openings dropped slightly in July, lowering them to levels not seen regularly since 2020.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released its Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary Wednesday, showing the number of openings at 7.18 million. It's the second time the number was under 7.2 million since the end of 2020, CNBC reported.
"This is yet another data point underscoring how this job market is frozen and it's difficult for anyone to get a job right now," Heather Long, chief economist at Navy Federal Credit Union, told CNBC.
It was the lowest since September 2024, when there were slightly more than 7.1 million.
Hiring ticked up slightly from 5.26 to 5.30 million.
