A wildfire in California set thousands of acres ablaze, prompting evacuations, including the historic Chinese Camp town, according to officials.
The 6-5 Fire, located in Tuolumne County, around 115 miles northeast of San Jose has consumed 6,473 acres as of 5:27 a.m. local time on Wednesday, Sept. 3, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection also known as Cal Fire.
The fire is yet to be contained.
The 6-5 Fire combined with the TCU September Lightning Complex Fires, which include the 2-7 Fire burning nearby, and six other fires that have collectively burned a total of 12,473 acres. The fires are burning in multiple locations across Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties.
"Mandatory evacuation orders are in place with widespread warnings extending further," Cal Fire stated on its website. "Incident Command has requested significant resources, including engines, dozers, crews, and aircraft, as the fire burns at a dangerous rate of spread and threatens multiple structures."
