The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Wednesday arrested Akkala Venkat Swamy, panchayat secretary of Karnamamidi village in Hazipur mandal, while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 at the complainant’s house.
According to the ACB, the secretary demanded money for showing official favour, including taking photographs of the basement and uploading the stage-wise progress of a house being constructed under the Indiramma Indlu scheme. This was to facilitate the sanctioning of a partial payment of ₹1 lakh to the complainant.
