Sept. 3 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump will welcome Poland's newly elected President Karol Nawrocki Wednesday at the White House.

Nawrocki, who was elected to the presidency in June, is a right-wing nationalist whom Trump endorsed. His office is largely ceremonial, but he has been pushing back against the centrist Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a Trump critic. Poland's foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski is also visiting Washington but not the White House, the New York Times reported.

"There cannot be two foreign policies serving one country," said Pawel Wronski, Polish foreign ministry spokesperson, at a news conference on Tuesday. He said the ministry wished Nawrocki well in his meeting with Trump but it urged him to stick to policy.

The White House visit is his first overseas trip since he took office in early August. Marcin Przydacz, Nawrocki's chief foreign policy advisor, told reporters that the visit would mostly include discussion on "security issues," and that Poland wanted to "maintain the best possible relations with the Americans."
