The owners of a cash-strapped village pub that had to close down have hit out at campaigners trying to save it - accusing them of never visiting it when it was open.
Lee and Sally Turland said they had 'no choice' but to make the heartbreaking decision to close their business of 26 years in 2022 as it was no longer 'financially viable'.
The couple want to transform the 150-year-old Boot Inn into a five-bed house but are now embroiled in a planning row with villagers who have launched a campaign to preserve it.
Despite reducing the price three times, the husband and wife have failed to sell the pub, located in the Hampshire village of Shipton Bellinger.
They say the 'only other option' they have is to convert it into a home.
