A security source estimates that 70,000 to 80,000 people have been displaced from Gaza City, most within the past 72 hours.
Before the planned occupation, some 1.2 million residents and displaced people were in the city. "Hamas is using various measures to prevent population movement south from Gaza City," the source said.
The source added that the humanitarian area in southern Gaza will be expanded to accommodate about two million people. "Humanitarian infrastructure in the south is prepared and scaled for the population in accordance with international law," the source said, while noting that improvements will continue alongside the evacuation from Gaza City.
