An autistic AA driver who was sacked after he joked he would like to 'drop' two of his colleagues out of a third-storey window has won almost £25,000 in a discrimination payout.

Adrian Lloyd-Penny made the remark in a heated phone call, saying he was going to drop night manager Lyndon Tyler and dispatcher Dave Boddison 'from a third-storey bloody window'.

The tribunal heard the recovery driver said it in 'jest' after his autism 'flared up' when he thought the pair had made a mistake.

He later apologised and both colleagues took 'no offence' as 'he was clearly joking', the panel was told.

Despite that, bosses called him into a meeting and dismissed him, saying it was 'incredibly inappropriate' to make comments about causing harm.
