Michael Stipe, frontman of the legendary alt-rock band R.E.M., finally clarified some of the lyrics to a song that’s baffled fans for decades.
The track is the manically paced “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” from 1987′s “Document” album.
Since the band didn’t print lyrics on the album sleeve, the words to the song have been up for debate for years ― so much so that it was once a joke on “The Simpsons.”
And that’s what caught Stipe’s eye on Bluesky as he shared a meme of Homer Simpson bragging: “I can sing all the lyrics to ‘It’s The End Of The World’ by R.E.M.”
“No you can’t, Mr. Simpson,” he’s told. “No one can.”
