"Like brothers." This is how these friends from Kibbutz Sufa – Eitan Deaner, 15, and Harel Levi, 17 – define their longtime relationship. Almost a year ago, they sat together on beanbags at the key-handing ceremony for temporary apartments made available to 30 families from this kibbutz in the southern city of Ofakim. There, in an unfamiliar neighborhood, they tried together to go through the toughest times of their lives, supporting each other more than usual. Over this year, their bond grew closer. They are now facing another change, this time on their home turf, in the kibbutz.
