A blockade staged by the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) under the aegis of its Kozhikode district committee resulted in the activities at the Kozhikode Corporation Office getting disrupted for half a day on Tuesday. The stir that started at 5 a.m. in protest against the alleged corruption and mismanagement in the Corporation went on till 12.30 p.m. when the police forcibly removed around 100 party workers, while around nine were arrested.
The workers blocked all the entrances to the Corporation office, preventing employees from joining duty till noon. The protest went on peacefully as the employees did not try to enter the building.
