Donald Trump will make an “exciting” announcement this afternoon in his first public appearance in a week.
The US president will deliver remarks from the Oval Office at 2pm ET (7pm BST).
“The President will be making an exciting announcement related to the Department of Defence,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
It comes days after rumours Mr Trump had died spread online after the US president had an unusually quiet few days following a lengthy Cabinet meeting last week.
Rumours about Mr Trump’s health were quelled when the Republican leader was seen playing a round of golf on Saturday. On Sunday, he said he had “never felt better in my life”.
