Several people were injured during a knife rampage in Marseille today, before police shot the suspected attacker dead.
At least one of the four reported victims was taken to hospital in critical condition, according to local media.
The incident happened on the terrace of a fast food restaurant in Bouches-du-Rhône, in Marseille's 1st arrondissement.
The alleged perpetrator was said to have been known to local authorities. A motive for Tuesday's attack was unclear.
Sources told Le Figaro that the perpetrator had clashed with staff at a hotel where he was said to have stopped paying for his accommodation.
