A grandfather went up in flames and died when moisturiser cream on his clothing caught fire, an inquest heard.
James Rownsley, 89, was attempting to warm up his home in Mexborough, just outside of Doncaster, when he lit a gas fire and a flame caught his clothing.
On his clothing was the residue of emollient cream that he used to treat a skin condition.
Mr Rownsley 'did not realise' his clothes were on fire until he sat down on his sofa before he jumped up in an attempt to put it out.
However, the inquest heard he 'fell to the floor' in his sitting room as the fire 'very rapidly developed'.
