Two police officers who were suspended after taking a selfie with a pop star were ‘victims of sex discrimination’, a tribunal has found.
Police Scotland Constables Steven Jones and Greg Tunnock stopped to take a picture with Scots R&B singer Tallia Storm when they were on duty in March last year.
They had intended to show the photograph to the force’s communications department as an example of them engaging positively with the public.
But, after footage of the brief encounter appeared on social media, the pair were summoned to a meeting, had their firearms authorisations revoked and were kicked out of their unit.
Bosses were worried PC Jones and PC Tunnock ‘could be perceived as sexist by having a picture taken with a female celebrity’.
