Israeli international Manor Solomon leaves Tottenham for Villarreal loan after failed Crystal Palace deal, with Champions League clash against Spurs ahead
Israeli winger Manor Solomon was on the verge of joining the Crystal Palace soccer team of London, but for unclear reasons, the move to the English Cup holders fell through. Instead, just before the transfer window closed, he was loaned out from Tottenham to Villarreal in Spain's La Liga.
The move gives Solomon another chance to play in the Champions League after his stint with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk – and in two weeks he will face his parent club Tottenham in the opening round of the group stage.
Villarreal has made a strong start to the season with seven points from nine, including a 5-0 victory over Girona, and currently boasts La Liga's best goal differential. Solomon is expected to fit quickly into manager Marcelino's side, following Yeremi Pino's transfer to Crystal Palace this summer.
Tottenham, which recently signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig in Germany and Randal Kolo Muani from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, decided to loan out Solomon this season as well after his stint last season with Championship side Leeds United.
