Kim Jong Un has arrived in China in his armoured train to join Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping for a huge military parade in Beijing as the three communist powers showcase their unity at an anti-NATO summit.

The North Korean leader's rare trip marks his first visit to China in six years and comes as the trio tighten their alliance in a direct challenge to the West.

The parade will take place on Wednesday in Beijing to mark 80 years since the end of World War II and China's battle against Japan.

Leaders from 26 countries are due to attend, including Kim and Putin, who will stand alongside Xi to watch the event.

It will be the first time Kim has taken part in a major international gathering since he came to power 14 years ago.
