A former 'teacher of the year' award winner will not serve time behind bars after she pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting one of her female students.

Brandyn Hargrove, 43, was convicted Wednesday of 12 counts related to the relationship she had with a 15-year-old student nearly two decades ago.

She was involved in a two-year sexual relationship with the girl beginning in 2007, while the victim was a student at Brazoswood High School in Clute, Texas.

The victim, who is now in her 30s, reported the affair to police in September 2023 and Hargrove was indicted and arrested on a $240,000 bond.

Hargrove pleaded guilty last week to six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure as part of a plea deal, KPRC reports.
