Cameron Norrie and Novak Djokovic have just walked onto the court.
Norrie has been announced to the crowd as “Wimbledon semi-finalist” while there are noticeably more cheers for the 24-time grand slam champion.
Norrie said: “I think you asked your seven-year-old self what you would like to be doing on a Friday night, then you would say this. I’m so excited.”
Norrie said it has been many years since he has even played a night session in New York, and it is a different crowd in the evening at Flushing Meadows.
It seems strange for a player who has played as long as Cameron Norrie that he has never stepped foot onto the vast stadium court that is Arthur Ashe.
