A Wisconsin woman was given a light slap on the wrist after swapping her grandmother's diabetes medication for 'supplements', which led to her death.
A jury in Wausau, Wisconsin, found 38‑year‑old Kandise Sheahen guilty of neglect causing the death of her grandmother, Alene Schrader, in May.
On Wednesday at her sentencing, Sheahen received a very light sentence of nine months - despite the prosecution's push for six years in prison.
Schrader passed away on January 8, 2022, after police responded to Sheahen's home in Wausau and found the elderly woman dying.
Sheahen told first responders she didn't want her grandma to be taken to hospital, despite her elevated blood sugar level, and paramedics were prevented from taking the Schrader's vitals.
