A Labour MSP has been charged over allegations he placed a secret camera in the toilets of the Scottish Parliament Building.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Scottish Labour MSP Colin Smyth was arrested and charged with the possession of indecent images.

He was arrested at his home in Dumfries on August 5, where a search of his phone and computer was undertaken.

Following the revelation of his arrest, the Daily Record newspaper reported he has also been charged over allegations he placed a camera in a toilet at the Scottish Parliament building.

Mr Smyth said following his arrest he was in ‘shock’ and was cooperating with the authorities.
