The Department of Homeland Security has unveiled a bold new clampdown targeting the controversial phenomenon known as 'forever students.'
Under the latest directive from the Trump administration, foreign students in the United States on a visa will face a strict four-year cap on their academic tenure, sparking an outcry from students who have dreamed of attaining an American education.
The administration's plan is a significant shift in the approach to international education and immigration.
A DHS spokesperson stated that for 'too long' foreign students and other visa holders have been able to 'remain in the U.S. virtually indefinitely.'
That poses 'safety risks, costing untold amounts of taxpayer dollars, and disadvantaging U.S. citizens,' the spokesperson went on. 'If finalized, it would limit the length of time certain visa holders - including foreign students - are allowed to stay in the United States.'
