The Home Office’s bid to reverse a ban on asylum seekers staying at a hotel in Essex is due to be heard at the Court of Appeal.
The owners of the business and the Home Office are both trying to overturn an injunction granted to Epping Forest district council after protests outside the hotel.
Last week, Mr Justice Eyre ordered Somani Hotels Limited to stop housing asylum seekers and remove those already at the Bell Hotel, by 4pm on Sept 12.
The Home Office is also seeking to appeal against the decision not to allow it to intervene in the case.
The outcome of the appeal could throw the Government’s asylum policy into disarray if more councils try to stop migrants being housed in hotels.
