A 23-year-old groom died of his injuries after being hit by celebratory gunfire on his own wedding day in northern Turkey, local media reported on Wednesday.
Newlyweds Beyzanur Beyazıt and Ali Karaca were being escorted home after the ceremony when Karaca was wounded by gunfire, allegedly at the hands of his sister-in-law, state news agency Anadolu reported.
The 47-year-old woman was detained by security forces and two unlicensed pistols were found in her garden, it said.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Turpçu Village, in the Şebinkarahisar district. Mr Karaca, seriously injured, was taken to Şebinkarahisar State Hospital.
But despite best efforts, he could not be saved. Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the incident.
