An ice cream vendor killed in London earlier this month had his throat cut and was repeatedly stabbed as he collapsed to the ground, a court has been told.

Shazad Khan, 41, was allegedly attacked by Zaher Zaarour while plying his trade in Monks Park, Wembley on the evening of Tuesday August 19.

He is said to have suffered 'catastrophic injuries' and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

Zaarour, who is yet to enter a plea, is alleged to have approached Mr Khan, who was in his van selling ice cream, at around 6pm.

During the attack, a number of Mr Khan's ribs were fractured, Prosecutor Jacob Hallam told the Old Bailey.
