Two children, aged eight and 10, have been killed after a gunman opened fire during morning Mass at a primary school.
The shooter, armed with a rifle, shotgun, and pistol, stormed Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota and “sprayed” dozens of rounds of bullets through the stained glass windows of the adjacent church.
The children, aged eight and 10, were attending the school’s start-of-year Mass when they were hit by bullets as they sat praying on church pews.
The suspect, thought to be in his early twenties, took his own life in the church’s car park, Minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara said.
He was dressed in black and camouflage, Mr O’Hara said, and there is no clear motive for the attack at the current time.
